I Saw Red is the best song. But the acoustic version is lame. Studio version is much better. The acoustic version loses the power part of this power ballad. Especially at the 2.36 mark that leads into the guitar solo which is the best part of the song!

If I remember correctly it was Guns 'N' Roses who kind of made the acoustic thing "cool" again. Then Jon and Richie at the MTV awards doing Prayer and Wanted went over really good as well. I believe Great White was the first band to do MTV's Unplugged.

Technically, Bon Jovi did it first with Wanted. I don’t remember many rock and metal bands using acoustic guitars in 1986 or prior to. Van Halen here and there. But it’s not like Eddie brought one out on stage.

GNR did do the Lies ep. You are correct. Although Poison copied Bon Jovi in 1988 with their cowboy themed acoustic based Every Rose Has It’s Thorn.

To GNR’s credit I’ve seen video of Axl, Slash and I believe Duff but maybe it was Izzy playing an acoustic gig at some club in Hollywood in 1985 before they were famous.

I heard one reason Bon Jovi wrote wanted was to appeal to male fans. Ratt also did "Wanted Man" with the cowboy theme before them. Many of those guys grew up when westerns were popular and probably wanted to live out those fantasies.

That's true. Jon said that in an interview. He wanted to write a song that would fit the movie better and that was Blaze of Glory.

Never paid attention to that show. I hate it when someone plays guitar at a party and expects others to watch and it had this vibe. I went with the last option. Although I did stumble across a surprisingly good one recently, Shark Island-Paris Calling. It actually sounded better than the original.

Signs is so strange. When I was younger I would have played it on repeat. It oddly inspired my so much when listening to that acoustical jam album


Now I think it might be one of the worst songs I’ve ever heard
