Who are you going to be able to be able to see in 20 years? The answer is whoever is around 50-55 right now, because in 20 years they'll be 70-75 and maybe still playing. But I don't know of any hairbands or metal bands from the 80s who are that young.

So the answer will be nobody. Slash just turned 60 last week and he's on the younger end of that scene, so in 20 years he's gonna be 80. Can't imagine GNR will still be playing considering Axl can't sing now. Metallica are all around 60 and I can see them going for as long as their bodies will hold up but will they be playing "Master Of Puppets" when they're 75/80?

If Bret Michaels didn't have diabetes, I would think he'd be on stage when he's in his 90s like Willie Nelson.

Alice Cooper will probably be our Willie Nelson and be performing in his 90s. He's literally a vampire.

The bands you might be able to see in 20 years are maybe some of the 90s bands. Dave Grohl is 56 so maybe you can see the Foo Fighters in 20 years. But the list is gonna be very short. The era of the rock band having a 40/50 year career is an endangered species.

DLR and Sammy are both still out there. Dave won the Van Halen battle but Sammy won the life battle. He has friends. Dave is all alone.

According to my calculations, Mike Tramp will be putting together a new version of White Lion in 20 years. He has aged well and lives a peaceful lifestyle so he will still be around.

Sebastian is the youngest of the 80’s guys so he should still be around and still have all his hair.

Sebastian Bach is 57 now and I can see him performing in 20 years at 77. Same goes for Zakk Wylde, 58. Backed by 30 years younger musicians of course.

There are no worthy successors. It's strange to watch it die but fuck it most of us are in the second half ourselves.

Yeah, I don't think we're going to see any new rock stars, it's just not that world anymore. I think a couple people touched on this in my PERSONALITIES thread but you need mystery for there to be rock stars and we don't really have much of that in music anymore.

That's how I think about Michael Jackson, we're never going to see anything close to that ever again, that level of fame for a pop singer.

You're right about most of these.
Especially Alice Cooper. He's my all time favorite! I've seen Alice 17 times. The first time was the Welcome to my Nightmare tour in 1975. I was 12.
However, Mick Jagger just turned 82 a couple of weeks ago.
I have seen The Stones 3 times in recent years (7 times in total). The Rose Bowl in 2018. SoFi Stadium in 2021 and again in 2024.
The YouTube videos don't do anyone justice.
But I can assure you, the The Stones were perfection at all of these shows.

My vote goes to Green Day. I thought they were "just okay" in the '90s, but I respect them so much now. They learned how to be an arena/stadium/festival headliner, have the catalog, and look younger than their age. They can keep this up for another 20 years.

I can't think of anyone who comes close off the top of my head. Maybe Foo Fighters.

90s bands are basically in their mid-50s to early 60s now. But so many are already passed away. I think we might have seen Cris Cornell playing in his late 70s had he survived. Perhaps Mark Lanegan, but he was NEVER going to live that long.

20 years from now, I could imagine Pearl Jam, probably a mellower one. Maybe Jerry Cantrell doing his more acoustic side? Maybe Steven Wilson? Josh Homme of Queens?

There's a bunch of great musicians who aren't rock acts but do rock pretty hard in their own way who will be elder statesmen by then but almost surely will still be playing strong: Chris Thile, Billy Strings . . .

I'll bet Brad Paisley is still going then, and he'll be in his 70s.

No one from the 80s Sunset Strip scene will be going strong then. None of those bands have what the Rollings Stones have (nor does just about anyone else save maybe Jon Anderson of Yes). Jon will be in the 7th dimension 20 years from now.
