Damn. This is a rough one for me. I remember exactly when I heard Junkyard for the first time. I was at a party and a drunk friend insisted I listen to a cassette he brought with him. I took a few more shots of some Hot Damn and then I heard Blooze. Went and bought the cassette myself the next day.

He just got married like a week or two ago. Damn shame.

The last time I saw Junkyard, David cut his lip on his microphone. He didn’t even notice until he had blood all over his face. Kept singing. Total pro.

Rest In Peace David.

The first Junkyard record is among a handful of albums where it flew under the radar with normal people but on Sludge, it's Zeppelin IV.

I'm going to put it on.

Sorry, Danzig.

The second one, Sixes, Sevens, & Nines, is even better, for my ears, but I like ‘em both.

yep, both great albums.
“Hands off” always got me because it was a distorted guitar playing the acoustic part of a sort of ballad

Lyrics for “Lifer” and “Last of a Dying Breed” hitting too close to home now, with lyrics like “I’m looking casket sharp” and “When it’s my time - I gotta go - I hope it’s fast - don’t take me slow”!

The cover bands will pull out a Junkyard song to show what REAL fans they are.

Go listen to their '89 debut. They were a great sleaze band that had videos on MTV and HBB back in the day. "Hollywood" rules!

Really dug Junkyard & lucky enough to hang out with Dave a few times for more than a quick pic
Was a super nice dude but seem to struggle over last few years with finances before the Big C

Saw them about 3-4 times in the last 15 years. Roache always looked a little rough pre show. Like he just rolled out of bed of bus or seat of van.

However, no club level band brought it better than he and Junkyard. Just straight ahead, in your face rock for 60-90 minutes. One of my favorites to see live every few years.

First concert dad took me to Skynyrd at the age of 10. Junkyard opened this 1991 tour. Was more excited to see Junkyard as they were on headbanger's ball and axl wore their shirt. So actual first band saw was Junkyard, not Skynyrd. They were really good as I remember. Sad to hear he passed on.
