Worst albums you've ever heard
I usually stay away from albums considered bad. But there are a few bands I like so much that I want to explore their entire catalog. And I have to say, VH III is the biggest piece of shit I've ever heard. I think I listened to it maybe three times. Without You and Fire In The Hole are solid. The rest is pure garbage. Was Eddie on meth when making this?

The Faster Pussycat industrial remix album was laughably bad.

This thread brought to you by Quiet Riot.
Re: Worst albums you've ever heard
When i first moved to London I discovered the used cd stores. There was one with tables out front that did a range of prices like "£6 each or 2 for £10" down to "10 for £10". I bought a lot of the cheapest stuff almost at random on the grounds that if I got 1 decent album it was worth it. I've recently been weeding out a lot of the dross from that era but found some of those £1 turds fetch decent money on Discogs! A Polish thrash band called Dragon is my best so far. I don't think I could ever bear to listen to more than half of it. Now I just need to get my arse in gear to actually sell them.

That happens to be right! I was already thinking of possibly my worst music purchase ever when I was buying cassettes: Condition Critical. I never listened to any of them, but apparently the albums that followed were significantly worse.

VH3 is the worst album by a band I really like.
Ozzy's Black Rain sucks too, and Death Row by Accept could make a top 3.

Re: Worst albums you've ever heard
Hmmm...I hate to go along with the thread, but VH III is pretty far down the list. Hard to think of an album worse that than that I've actively listened to, and wasn't just on in the background.
I'd have to listen to Black Rain again to compare, but for my money, the worst Ozzy album is the covers album, Under Cover. Dunno what on Earth they were thinking there.
Could also see an argument for any of the pre-Pepper Keenan CoC albums when they were still trying to be punk, (Eye for An Eye, Animosity, Technocracy). Those are all pretty rough.
However, I will say, if you haven't listened to the two albums CoC did without Pepper when he was busy with Down, (Self Titled, and IX), those are actually pretty good, and worth giving a chance if you're a fan. Not as good as the Pepper stuff, but not horrible, like what came before.

St. Anger is up there. It's at least fascinating in its awfulness though.

Ozzy "Black Rain" is the only semi listenable album post Ozzmosis, which I know isn't saying much, but I dont get how anyone would single that out as being his "worst".

Do we include D-Level artists? If so, that opens much more horrible possibilities.
Re: Worst albums you've ever heard
This could be the longest thread ever. And the obvious choice, second maybe only to Quiet Riot’s catalog, is the UYI albums. But that goes without saying, so allow me to ruffle some feathers…
Faster Pussycat’s Wake Me When It’s Over.
Atrocious, over produced, sickeningly polished, HORNS. C’mon. Awful. And especially painful on the heels of their s/t sleaze masterpiece.

I really hate it that whoever wrote all those great old Poison songs died.

It’s definitely the first album that came to mind. I can’t even agree about Without You. Fire In The Hole is it for me.
The thing that really drives me crazy about III is it’s not even one of those “If it was by anyone other than Van Halen it would be considered a great album” albums. It’s just fucking horrible.
We will probably never know for sure but I find it very hard to believe that meth wasn’t part of the equation.

I can't believe we've made it this far without someone calling out Peter Criss '78.

Yeah, it's horrible compared to the debut. You can tell it was recorded in a home studio.

Even though Weezer had been on the decline since Green, every album was worth a listen up until Raditide. What an absolute dogshit album that was, couldn't even make it to the end.

I am not a huge fan of these albums. But I have lived in Raleigh for 20+ years and people who grew up here and are a little older than me (I'm 51) hold them in high regard.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Fri Aug 15, 2025 5:04 am

Apparently a COC show at Sadlack's (one of my favorite all-time bars, may it rest in peace) was a thing of beauty.
