Being a Rocker in a conservative area

Post by Rocker4Real »

How many of you grew up in a conservative, or rural, area and wanted to be Rockers? Did the people around you give pushback? Did you experience discrimination? Ever get into a scuffle?

That's a good point about the present situation. Rock isn't considered rebellious today.

I got more pushback from the liberal people in my life. My father was a hard core liberal. He was by far the loudest voice against me liking rock and metal.

Oh yeah. They said I’d never make it. That nothing good would ever happen to me. And they were right.

It's absolutely idiotic to contend Zep weren't A-listers in the 1970s.

When rock was good it was about excellence - not slovenliness like the left of today.

Japan is conservative.

I can't speak for the scene in Japan. I did not follow it back in the day. What are some examples of excellence in Rock from your perspective?

Perhaps we should hold off on the personal attacks. Maybe conservative was not a good word to use. There's no need to start a political debate on this thread.
