No one. Unless you’re playing a sport men should never wear shorts.
At least Anthrax’s “We wear jams” phase in 80s was mildly funny. The nu-metal cargo shorts era was an abomination.

Rick Allen in the 80s was cool to me.
Though I like Trixter, their drummer wearing Jorts was not cool.

I always wore either cutoff sweats, shorts or jams on stage during the ‘80s and ‘90s. It was WAY too fucking hot to run, jump around or anything else in jeans. ugh. The main reason why I ALWAYS hated playing live was the heat and that’s even when I was still skinny. LEDs help these days since the old canned lights could give you a suntan if you got within 20 feet of them, but it still sucks.

I only wear spandex or a jockstrap on stage. I do have one band where I wear pants, which I love, as I can have my damn car key and phone on my person.Wiseacre wrote: ↑Sat Aug 30, 2025 2:23 pm I always wore either cutoff sweats, shorts or jams on stage during the ‘80s and ‘90s. Nobody but Angus looks cool in shorts on stage … dress like a rockstar for F sakes or get off the stage.
Joe Hottinger was wearing Hulk blue jean shorts on stage not long ago … he looked ridiculous.
Lzzy Hale wears leather shorts sometimes with stockings and a leather corset … I’m fine with that but not dudes.

Dino Cazares, Tony Campos, and Shavo from System Of A Down are allowed. This is up there with “only Thom Yorke can have a manbun” where very few are permitted to be the exception to the rule.

In that case, make sure it’s an elastic waistband

The 2 rocker wannabes in my senior HS class were too cool to wear shorts on our Disney trip. I'm sure that they sweated their asses off.
