Roger Waters about Ozzy Osbourne's death: "I couldn't care less"

In a recent interview, former Pink Floyd leader Roger Waters has revealed that he was never a fan of heavy metal icon Ozzy Osbourne.

This comes after various artists have paid tributes to ‘The Prince of Darkness’ following his tragic passing. While plenty of artists have come out of their woodwork to pay their respects, Waters has said that he never cared for Osbourne’s music or any of the material that he made with Black Sabbath.

When discussing the influence that music has over people, Waters brought up Osbourne’s condition around the time of his death, saying to The Independent Ink, “Ozzy Osbourne, who just died, bless him in his whatever that state that he was in his whole life. We’ll never know. The music, I have no idea. I couldn’t give a fuck.” Waters would go on to air his the “idiocy” that Osbourne showed when working on the reality show, The Osbournes.

The former Floyd frontman also had some choice words for Black Sabbath’s music as well, saying, “I don’t care about Black Sabbath, I never did. Have no interest in biting the heads of chickens or whatever they do. I couldn’t care less, you know.” However, the reference to biting heads off of animals comes from Osbourne’s solo career, where he infamously bit the head off of a dove during a business meeting and erroneously bit the head off of a bat, thinking that it was a Halloween toy.

Despite the critique, Osbourne had been a major Pink Floyd fan all of his life, even ranking ‘Money’ as one of his all-time favourite rock songs. In a further interview, Osbourne praised the soundtrack album Obscured By Clouds, even going so far as to say that the prog-rock juggernauts never made a bad album.

Then again, Waters has made his opinion known about Black Sabbath in the past as well. When first reviewing their debut single, ‘Evil Woman’, in 1970, Waters was quick to dismiss it at the time as well, saying it left him “speechless” for how underwhelming it was on first listen.

Nevertheless, Osbourne’s status as a rock and roll titan is already secured, having been inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for both Sabbath and his solo career and becoming a mainstay in pop culture for years. He had also wrapped up his final show at the time of his death, appearing at the Back to the Beginning alongside his Sabbath bandmates, where he was surrounded by fellow luminaries of hard rock.

So, they both told the truth.

I have asked nicely more than once, please do NOT spell out 4 letter words such as F??? in the title of threads.

Please edit it out...

Thank you, Stevie

While I like Pink Floyd, I couldn’t care less about Roger Waters.

Misleading title.
He didn't say he couldn't care less about Ozzys death.
Only that he doesn't care for the music.

They should ask Keith Richards what he thinks of Black Sabbath.

Freom Jack Osbourne:

Hey Roger Waters - fuck you. How pathetic and out of touch you've become. The only way you seem to get attention these days is by vomiting out bullshit in the press. My father always thought you were a cunt - thanks for proving him right.

Roger Waters might be a c**t but he did not know Ozzy nor did he like his image or music and he seemed as unimpressed with Black Sabbath, so why would he suddenly care when Ozzy died!?
I found it more provoking when people who had never listened to Ozzy/Black Sabbath suddenly cared.
NAME THREE SONGS!!!

Just for the record, I loved all Ozzy’s albums up to ”No More Tears”….
