Crue residency starts Friday night
Thoughts on if they can do a decent show or they are shot?

There are tons of tix available, including some solid seats at a fair price.

I would rather sit home and play the records. Same thing and a lot cheaper

I'd totally go and report back if it there weren't an additional $300-400 add ons involved. Tickets almost free now.

Re: Crue residency starts Friday night
I can't recall a band falling so far down the totem pole so quickly without some sort of external driver. Granted, Motley weren't anywhere near a stadium-level act on their own going into the Stadium Tour, but they were doing solid business before they did their farewell tour. You'd think they'd be able to continue to tour at that level, but the demand has disappeared. I don't know how much of it has to do with Mick (a minority of the people in the crowd have any idea who's on stage), the band's reputation for terrible "live" performances (I doubt the casual fan has any idea), resentment for going back on their silly "cessation of touring" promise (they're not the first and won't be the last) or if it's a combination of all the above.
The Stadium Tour was a perfect package -- a zeitgeist-y / moment in time recaptured / strength in numbers kind of thing. Maybe Bon Jovi / Def Lep could do similar business. As for Motley? I'm not sure they'd sell tickets at this point even if they did another farewell tour.

Apparently show is going on as of last night. Tommy posted a video to IG of his drum setup.

They got a boost from the Dirt and the general post Covid environment but everyone who needs to seem has already and they are outliving their original fanbase. Also Vegas residencies tend to be hit and miss. Not really sure the demand is there for 50,000 people to travel in from all over the world to see them. And Vegas is also dead apparently, just not dead enough to get a decent rate on a room or flight.Hair I Go Again wrote: ↑Wed Sep 10, 2025 5:33 am I can't recall a band falling so far down the totem pole so quickly without some sort of external driver. & he did the weakest "rat a tat tat/drum fill". Didn't inspire me one bit to check any of it out. Was he ever a good "rock" drummer live? I was for sure told he was, the press loved him as a drummer. I'll have to check some old footage.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 10, 2025 5:44 am Apparently show is going on as of last night. Tommy posted a video to IG of his drum setup.

John 5 should dress like HE IS auditioning for Ghost
10. She Goes Down
11. Girls Girls Girls
12. Sticky Sweet
Not being surrounded with Crue fans in 2025 is the win
Having 3 rows to myself in balcony - would be the win
Anyone buy winter clothes for Def Leppard residency yet!? Buy those Antarctica snow jackets and ski pants
April in Vegas will be fun again- get to see Rollins curb stomp CM Punk (for real this time) back to Excalibur for ME! Pool lounge- enchiladas when I want..Jacob Fatu sightings

Re: Crue residency starts Friday night
The ONLY chance they have for a respectable run is a HUGE stage production. HUGE.
They rode that model successfully for 35 years. Then unretired and completely abandoned the “show” element. They’ve been a laughing stock ever since. Can’t buy a real tour.

Every Motley show I went to, he was by far the best part, and was the only guy that really seemed to have talent.tooth wrote: ↑Wed Sep 10, 2025 5:53 am& he did the weakest "rat a tat tat/drum fill". The funny part, even when he wasn't there, (Maximum Rock), Samantha Moloney was ALSO the best part. That should tell you something.

2000+ on Tickpick (where bots often just relist Ticketmaster tickets) and over 700 on a broker to broker exchange and the needle is barely moving on those.

The fact that they filled stadiums on that tour meant all the casuals did go that time and all of them saw how crappy they were. Here's a case where the casuals do have an idea they cant cut it.Hair I Go Again wrote: ↑Wed Sep 10, 2025 5:33 am the band's reputation for terrible "live" performances (I doubt the casual fan has any idea)

Re: Crue residency starts Friday night
Not to defend Motley's status as has-beens, but this is also a HORRENDOUS time to be doing a Vegas residency.
If you're not at the Sphere, you're not selling tickets.

Re: Crue residency starts Friday night
Motley Crue just isn't "fun" anymore, they have zero energy and zero chemistry. Lethargic / half-ass "musical" performance aside, it's palpable that Vince doesn't want to be on stage with Motley Crue (he at least seems to be having fun at his solo shows, with MC he looks like he has PTSD), Tommy doesn't want to be on stage with Vince, and the audience doesn't want John 5 on the stage at all.

The Wizard of Oz showing at the Sphere will easily make more money.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Wed Sep 10, 2025 9:24 am Not to defend Motley's status as has-beens, but this is also a HORRENDOUS time to be doing a Vegas residency.

I have been told that they will be special guests on some of the shows.
Re: Crue residency starts Friday night
Well it might not be the best show in the world, but you can bet a lot of people will have a great time seeing these gigs absolutely tank.

Vince should grow a beard like Billy Gibbons so nobody can see that his lips aren't moving in sync to the vocal tapes
