For those of us deeply against the cafeteria food in kindergarten grade school all made the business decision to bring our food for lunch. I recalled being 6-7 years Old and my mom and I making a trip to Osco Drug. There seem to be many choices available at the time, plastic boxes, metal. We’ve both agreed to select the red Peanuts plastic box.
The lunch fare was selected as such, minced ham sandwich (we are talking mid 80’s) Doritos, and two Fudged Stripe cookies.
I wrote in a group of kids among four families that took turns taking us to school. Day one with the lunchbox was disasters. We arrived at school and got out of the Toyota van, accidentally clicked the latch on the lunchbox and everything hit the pavement. Cracked the thermos with the milk in it, all the goods inside thrown on the street. Embarrassing. Dad had to superglue the box at home that evening.
Let’s hear about your lunchbox experiences?

Still have mine "Marvel Heroes", late 70's, Fantastic 4 on one side Captain America, Thor and Hulk on the other, some secondary characters on the sides. Thermos is long gone.
My youngest Daughter used it for a while when she was in Elementary school.

Lunchbox... with a thermos? Were you fucking rich?
I was lucky to get food and it went in whatever bag my mom found in the kitchen.

Oh wow -
I remember most of my lunchboxes from the late 70’s - early 80’s. I had Peanuts, Hollie Hobbie, Charlie’s Angels, and Hong Kong Phooey. My lunch usually consisted of a PB&J sammich, a baggie filled with chips, and a random foil wrapped cake, like a Ding Dong or HoHo. The thermos usually had some kind of fruit juice. Some of those lunchboxes are worth a lot of money now.

I had The 6 Million Dollar Man , The Fonz and Star Wars plastic boxes . I ate whatever my mom threw in it. Usually PBJ or peanut butter and banana Sandwiches. It was usually some powered shit like Tang or Ice Tea with water in the thermos.
