Ties in football? The NFL has had only 17 ties in 43 years, and only 2 in the last 10 years. 32 team each playing 16 games a season for a combined 256 regular season games every season. So in 10 years 2 out of 2560 games have ended in a tie. So I guess 0.08% of the games ending in ties is a large amount. And for the record, not once since the AFL-NFL merger has a game ended in a 0-0 tie. The World Cup has had something like 8 ties already in roughly 30 matches.

And at least the NFL continues under regulation rules until there is a winner during a tie in their playoffs. Maybe after 1 overtime if they still have a tie they should just hold a Pass Punt & Kick contest so the soccer fans would be interested?

My jaw dropped this afternoon when I watched Skip Bayless say and I quote "it takes a better athlete to compete in Nathans Hot Dog Eating Contest, than to race in the Tour De France." The idiot was being 100% sincere as well. I realize that he says things for shock value. I also realize that if you do not actively ride road bicycles, watching the tour de France would be akin to watching paint dry. However, what Skip said was just stupid and was an insult to every one of the racers. Skip could probably eat some hot dogs, but I doubt he could pedal 100 miles a day for a month. My opinion of him wasn't particularly high prior to today, now it's too low to register. Calling him a "journalist" is an insult to those that go out and do some real reporting in the print medium.

Don't take this as me defending this Skip dude, but maybe what he means is that to be able to "train" your body to eat whatever the record is for hot dogs in 10 mins is more difficult than being in the Tour De France.
