See, I respect that. But I'm a bit of a stathead guy so I was trying to involve a bit 'more' into fantasy baseball than the usual crap. I mean, if I could get away with it I'd dump RBI since to me they're meaningless and a product of the situation, but I know those aren't going anywhere.Funnelhead wrote:Here is my thought on the wins debate. I like the fact that your pitcher can go out there, pitch like Gooden on crack, and then a weak ass bullpen comes in and loses his win. He walks out with a killer era and K's, adding to the total, yet gets hosed in the wins stat. That's baseball.
I don't have a problem not having avg for the reason Jake pointed out, but if the goal is to even the statistical sides, I'd vote for dumping quality starts.
I don't think pitchers should be judged on wins and losses since there's so much out of their control. I understand it's part of the game, but when you're playing fantasy baseball, something intrinsically stat-heavy, it helps to try to level the effect other players on your guy's team on him achieving stats on his own merit.
For example, nobody can take away a home run from your hitter, or an RBi or SB. Strikeouts and saves also. But a win can be 'achieved' and then yanked out from under your pitcher due to any one of the following pitchers blowing it. Too much room for error IMO.
