It's not even September 1st and it looks like the playoff spots are pretty well set, in the AL anyway.

In the AL:
Tampa & NY will get the East and WC spots
Texas has the West
Minnesota is in a pretty good shape. Chicago is the only team besides those 4 that has a shot.

At least there are still races in the NL:
The East is Cincy's to lose
SD is skidding but still has a 5 game lead
Atlanta, Philly, San Fran, St Louis, & Colorado will fight it out for the other two spots. At least that will be interesting.

Morgan is probably going to be suspended around 13-14 games. He had one suspension on appeal, a couple of other incidents where he tried to instigate some stuff and the other team didn't respond, and now this. He'll get at least 5 for the first one and 7 for this one.

Prior didn't have a perfect delivery -- he had the same issues with mechanics that Strasburg did.

I remember in 2003 hearing the "experts" say how Prior was a Tommy John surgery in waiting and how he had the worst mechanics in game. Though it didn't help that Dusty Baker drove his arm into the ground. Dusty destroys young pitchers.

I worry that Lincecum got too many innings too soon as well.

The past decade? Not really. They were in the mix most years through '05. The past 5 years though, absolutely, they've been terrible. They've been playing really well since the trade deadline this year though. Unfortunately they were tremendously bad leading up to it.

Yeah, it's seeing him gun down a guy at home. Richard Hidalgo made a habit out of that. He was one of those guys that looked like the real deal only to see him fade into obscurity, but that guy had a laser guided cannon for an arm.
