Curious too see what the clowns that run the NHL do about this. The score was tied in the 3rd and ballbag goes elbow to the head. What a clown.
BTW, not making fun of the Thrashers, just the city not giving a crap about pro sports.

Cooke should be gone for the season. The guy is a piece of shit. Mario is probably on vacation and unavailable for comment.

This booing Chara in every building stuff is ridiculous. Montreal and Ottawa used to boo him before the hit, but Columbus, Nashville, NYI? I feel bad for him. He's turning into the bad guy and his freakish size plays into it.

Agreed on Cooke. The guy needs to be some kind of sociopath to know he's the most scrutinized guy in the league right now, and he still throws a blatant elbow, versus a rookie, for no good reason. I'd give him at least 10 games - which is essentially the regular season.

Chara has to watch it. He can be great defensively, but I've also seen him be brutal in his own end when he overthinks things. If he's going to play as if he's being watched all the time, it could be bad for him and the B's. Right now they need to be hearing the Habs' footsteps, and that's WITH the Habs missing Markov, Gorges, Spacek, Sopel, Plekanec, Halpern, Pacioretty, and Darche.

The B's have been heavily penalized since Montreal, by they've also been playing as if it's rest time before the playoffs. Julien needs to push the right buttons, but no panic until it's an elimination game. B's have Devils/Habs/Rangers/Flyers this week, so 6th place is a real possibility by the end of the weekend.

I believe Islander fans were booing the lack of suspension handed down by the NHL, more than they were booing Chara himself

We are sick of seeing our players get suspended for everything, while the Bruins crosscheck in the back of the head, and slam guys heads into stantions and get.

Enough. Did any Bruins fans here bitch or call the cops when this (:48) happened? No suspension, just a $2500 fine.

Calling the cops is dumb, but that wasn't half as bad as what Chara did.

Plus you shouldn't confuse 100 idiots with real hockey/Habs fans. I thought Chara's hit was vile, but would never consider calling the cops, having him arrested for assault, etc.

Anyways, karma is sure to bitchslap the B's and Chara. It's already kicked in a bit.

Please. A hockey move versus a deliberate elbow to the face?
Marchand got, deservedly, a 2 game suspension for his elbow to the head.
As far as karma, anytime refs decide that they will take matters into their own hands to "make-up" for their perception of what their boss decided was a legitimate hockey move, the game is truly fucked.
I heard on the radio the other day that Pacioretty MIGHT be back playing in 3 weeks. They also mentioned how he supposedly had this "severe" concussion and yet was doing an interview from his hospital bed the next day. Ask Savard about a "severe" concussion.
There was an article in the Globe a couple of weeks ago that I may still have, that talked about Canadians fans and their short memories.
If I can find it, I'll post it.

Facedown, Driving one's head into the stantion isn't a "legitimate hockey move", and I nor you know the intent of either player.

Since you don't know, stop saying he drove his head into the stantion. Elbowing in the face isn't a legitimate hockey move, body checking is.

He did drive his head into the stantion. On purpose or not, he did. How can you say different?

Driving his head into the stantion would indicate intent, yet you just said you don't know the intent.

“This hit resulted from a play that evolved and then happened very quickly — with both players skating in the same direction and with Chara attempting to angle his opponent into the boards,” Murphy said. “I could not find any evidence to suggest that, beyond this being a correct call for interference, that Chara targeted the head of his opponent, left his feet or delivered the check in any other manner that could be deemed to be dangerous.”

Don't like it and don't agree? Too bad and don't pull the black and yellow shades bullshit.

If I turn a corner while texting and run over 3 kids, I didn't intend to run over the kids, but I still did.

It's true. Chara got a 5 minute penalty, so he certainly did something wrong, but you seem convinced it's all good. Your boy got away with doing something very stupid. You should just admit it.

Sure you did. You drove their heads into the pavement. That's your logic, right?

I'm convinced it's over and no bitching and moaning is going to change it.
Yeah, he did something wrong to get the penalty, it's called interference.
If the exact same play happened in a corner instead of where it did, what would have been the call? Interference.

Yeah, if their heads were driven into the pavement. Doesn't mean I meant to though.

Well injuries happen in the corner too.

You should look at what most fans look at and not just Habs and B's fans. Most think he deserved some suspension, and most people don't think he meant to do it

I don`t think medical professionals, at Montreal General, would make that up. He may have received a severe concussion, and may just be lucky that he isn`t suffering any, or many, symptoms of it. Everyone is different the experts say. The kid is still wearing one of those halos and I don`t see him coming back all that quick, no matter what anyone says.

I too am sick of it. Habs have drawn some inspiration from it - good for them. They`re a plucky bunch, playing how they are (all year), despite massive injury issues.

I`ll leave it at this: Dave Hodge, as respected a broadcaster as there is, used this analogy - if two drivers are driving side by side, and one forces the other off the road, and the one forced off hits a pole and is injured, what the NHL did is blame the pole and not the first driver. Chara drove Pacioretty off the road, the fact that ``the pole`` was there is bad luck, but it doesn`t negate what Chara did.

No matter what Gregy Campbell`s daddy`s buddy says, intentional or not, Chara hit a guy, without the puck, with enough force to drive him into the stantion and break one of his vertebra. That should be punished. Not to mention, more and more replays and closeups show Chara clutching the kid`s shirt and forcing him into the boards or stanchion just a wee bit harder than he had to. NOT a hockey play, and if it happens again, with a player who`s not a Norris trophy winner, it will be a suspendable play.

Isn't it Chara's job to ride the opposing player off the road so to speak? It was an interference call. Not boarding, not a blindside, not a direct head shot. You guys are overblowing it up there. With the padding that Molson has since put in place it will no longer be an issue.

He committed a penalty that lead to a serious injury. If the NHL would've suspended him for a few games it probably wouldn't be such a big deal.

Michael Grabner better win the Calder trophy. If the Isles could've just won 2 more games in November, they might be going to the playoffs. Christ.

Recchi just said in the local media that the Habs tried to get Chara suspended by stretching the injury report and the league had the guts not to listen. He also said that Pacioretty was texting from a movie theater 4 days after the hit. The crowd is going to be all worked up tomorrow.

The league had already handed down their ruling before the extent of Pacioretty's injuries were made public, so Recchi is obviously a conspiracy theorist. One of the issues I had with the league's ruling is that they didn't bother to talk to Pacioretty, or try to learn how badly he was hurt. By noon the next day the league had ruled.

Dumb for him to stir the pot.

It might be smart if it takes some of the pressure off Chara.

Crazy how the media from Montreal and Boston are going at it at this point. And a 7 games series is a real possibility in 3 weeks. Both cities are going to explode at this pace.

/\

If the teams play, there's going to be more animosity and media spin in a first round series than I've ever seen. I don't know if I can take it. Habs/Bruins games seriously affect my moods!

Two veteran refs tonight, Terry Gregson (supervisor) taking the game in in person, and Gary Bettman spoke to both GMs about not embarassing the league. I expect tonight to be, relatively, tame.

Too bad the Habs are so banged up. I'd really like to see these two teams play best on best. B's had injuries during the games early in the year, and now Habs have 8 regulars out. The Habs may slip to 7th or 8th. Even if they win in regulation tonight, it's still a stretch to think they'll catch the B's for the division.
