Used to love going to see The Phantoms in Philly and was present when they won The Calder Cup in 1998. Definitely miss 'em here in Philly (along with The Spectrum)

make sure it's a game against the Mooseheads that you take your kid to.Mackinnon has got great skill, but it's his awareness that really impresses me.I'm located centrally between Moncton,Saint John and Acadie-Bathurst and saw him quite abit last year and twice this year already.WOLF wrote:The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the QMJHL play about 20 minutes from my house. I'm going to take my kid to a few games. It's a good quality of hockey, with some future stars, and would rather throw them my cash, vs the Habs, these days. Not that there's a choice right now anyways...

Yup, MacKinnon was on my wish list for this year, as well as Huberdeau and Grigorenko while they're still in the Q. Habs also drafted a kid from Chicoutimi, Hudon, who's touted as a future Danny Briere type, and I want to get a look at him.alecjonsludge wrote:make sure it's a game against the Mooseheads that you take your kid to.Mackinnon has got great skill, but it's his awareness that really impresses me.I'm located centrally between Moncton,Saint John and Acadie-Bathurst and saw him quite abit last year and twice this year already.WOLF wrote:The Blainville-Boisbriand Armada of the QMJHL play about 20 minutes from my house. Huberdeauu and Beaulieu. Add Coyle and a few others to the mix and it was quite the treat to see the Sea Dogs in action the last few years. As long as Huberdeau is around they'll still be competitive most nights- but having been to a couple games already this year,it's painfully obvious their salad days are over and the rebuilding stage has begun-such is the cycle in Junior Hockey.WOLF wrote:Yup, MacKinnon was on my wish list for this year, as well as Huberdeau and Grigorenko while they're still in the Q. The Hamilton Bulldogs are going to be playing a couple of games at the Bell Centre, and I'm looking forward to seeing Nathan Beaulieu, Jarred Tinordi, Brendan Gallagher, and a lot of the other good young talent the Habs are assmbling.
Fuck the NHL right now as far as I'm concerned. I'm having fun coaching my son's Novice team, and reconnecting with grassroots hockey.
Dude, you will like it more than you think. If you don't know what offsides is, make sure you learn before you go. The most important rule in hockey.bane wrote:I know fuck all about hockey, but one of my vendors gave me 4 tickets to an Aeros game. I'm gonna take the family and check it out.

With the NHL strike, what are the chances I'd see some NHL talent at that game? It's this weekend.NeverSurrender wrote:Dude, you will like it more than you think. None. They're still part of the players union and I don't think they're allowed to play with another hockey team unless it's a national team that they're already contracted with.bane wrote:With the NHL strike, what are the chances I'd see some NHL talent at that game? Welcome to corporatism.Tymaster wrote:This effin' strike is killing Columbus. I was at the arena for Journey a few weeks ago and the staffers there were still optimistic. For many of the workers, it's their only job. For many others it's a large portion of their income. Last night before Megadeth (at a concert venue next door to Nationwide) we were walking around and all the restaurants that have huge lines in the waiting areas and generally need a reservation to even gain entry (Rodizio, Ted Turners, Buca, etc.) were sitting empty. Begging for people to come in and closing up hours earlier than they would during a hockey season. A couple of the taverns went belly up during the last strike and it seems another 2-3 won't survive this strike.
13 out of 28 players on the barons were penciled in on the oilers roster.NeverSurrender wrote:I don't know about half but they are there. There are some in the ECHL too. Cusack, stop typing.
