Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Stann would be a good fight, but Joe Silva doesn't like matching up winners with losers, so I don't see it happening, especially because Bisping is supposedly one fight away from fighting Silva. If Stann won they'd lose a #1 contender, and the list of people that can hope to challenge Silva for the title and have a prayer of winning is very slim. I think they'll match him with the Johnson/Belfort winner. I've heard rumors that the Munoz/Sonnen fight is off, in that case I'd like to see him fight Sonnen in a title eliminator.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
whats up with the Sonnen/Munoz fight? Last I read it was a go.slash4pres wrote:Stann would be a good fight, but Joe Silva doesn't like matching up winners with losers, so I don't see it happening, especially because Bisping is supposedly one fight away from fighting Silva. Good points on Bisping fighting Stann.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Wanderlei already did, even with a shot chin he was able to charge against Bisping's girly punches in the end of rounds. I agree with all the other guys you mentioned, Bisping loses against all of them.slash4pres wrote:I wouldn't call him top 5 even. Maybe 9 or 10. I see him getting demolished by a lot of middleweights, like maia, munoz, sonnen, belcher, okami, belfort, rumble (if he stays at mw), and palhares. I think Le and Wanderlei would have a good chance of beating him as well.
There is NO WAY Belfort loses to Bisping. First round ko.yeahbuddy wrote: About that list- the only fighters on that list that are for sure winners are Sonnen & Munoz. Everybody else might win, but more than likely not. Belfort is on the downside of his career. So what that he knocked out that jap guy.
Of course I dont mention Anderson Silva because the only other fighter that I think can beat Silva is Sonnen. Everybody else, not a chance.
All the others are more likely to win than not imo. Seriously, Bisping is a good technical striker and all (not great) with good cardio but lacks power. Who has he ever defeated that was top 5?

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
So,
who's it going to be?
Jones or The Dragon?
The only way Lyota wins this fight is if he gets inside on Jones, and nails him like he has never been nailed.
Other than that, Jone's reach & unorthodox style will take care of "the Dragon" within three rounds.
I'm going out on a limb, Jones will lose.
There I said it.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
It's a bit of a tossup, I could see either winning, but I'll go with Jones just because he's had pretty much the best year of anyone in the MMA, already beating a top LHW contender (at the time) in Bader, and two former LHW champs. If he finishes Machida that's three former champs that he finished in one year.
In other news, the Welterweight title picture is pushed back YET AGAIN because GSP blew out his ACL and is out for 10 months. Now, Diaz is fighting Condit for the interim title on on superbowl weekend.
from Dana's twitter- "GSP blown acl will be out for 10 mos. Now Condit vs Diaz for the interim welterweight title on Feb 4th in Las Vegas!!"
FOR FUCK'S SAKE!

Sucks, but Diaz - Condit can realistically be a more exciting fight and the interim belt will make the division more interesting while GSP is out.

I know, Condit/Diaz will undoubtedly be a more exciting fight, but I really want to see GSP get beat, especially by the guy who's been saying that he's better than him for years.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Dana White cut Miguel Torres yesterday because he made a rape joke on twitter. This is completely retarded because Forrest Griffin did the same thing a few weeks ago, and also Rashad told Davis that he was going to rape him like that penn state coach. Plus, Torres was quoting Its Always Sunny In Philadelphia, a show owned by Fox.

Nog should've kept pounding on Mir's face, I can't believe his arrogance, he was a few punches away from getting the fight stopped.
Also calm down with all those posts will ya clovis buddy? Try to condense all your thoughts into one or two, no need for a play by play, Rogan is enuff.

Fuck!!! was so pulling for Machida in this fight. He looked so good in the first round against Jones, picking apart Jones holes and tagging him Jones looked lost during that round. Jones did what he had to do to win, so hats off to him.
A good night of fights altogether. That Mir sub was brutal.

Give JBJ props, I thought after the 1st round Machida had his number,EddieVanHeineken wrote:Fuck!!! was so pulling for Machida in this fight. obviously not!
The only fighter that has a remote chance of beating Bones his Henderson. Only because of the H bomb.
JBJ needs to move up a weightclass or something.
Frank Mir- That was brutal! Ouch! I thought for sure Mir was out when he got tagged earlier in the round, but that submission was brilliant. Loved the way he rolled it into position, and "snap"!
Mir should fight the loser of the Overeem/Lesnar fight.
I got a hold of a clean link that didnt lag at all.

That settles it then.
Machida,Shogun, Rashad, Hendo and the others at LHW are all going to be like those losers at midleweigh cause I don't see that skinny motherfucker Jones losing to anyone in the division anytime soon.

That would be so fucking sweet, Hendo knocking out that arrogant cocksucker...but I think Jones gives him a beating standing, Hendo isn't exactly hard to hit. We'll see I think he gets the next title shot.yeahbuddy wrote: The only fighter that has a remote chance of beating Bones his Henderson. Only because of the H bomb.

Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
I think Rashad has a very good chance of beating Jones. he has to go in like Machida did...with no fear of the name "Jon Jones". I think people up to this point that have fought Jones have the same problem as Mike Tyson's opponents. They go in very tentative and react to what he is doing instead of employing their own game plan. Machida followed his own game plan and madeJones tentative.mullet_head wrote:I was pulling for Machida too, first round was great.EddieVanHeineken wrote:Fuck!!! was so pulling for Machida in this fight. IRashad is athletic enough to avoid Jones and get on the inside of his long reach. As long as he doesn't get too carried away or emotional, he has a good chance.
I'd love it if Henderson flattened Jones out. Hendo seems to always catch his opponent in the first round at some point. That will be the true test of Jones chin. If he can take those shots from Hendo and survive that onslaught the way Shogun did, i think he may be unbeatable until he goes up to heavyweight.
BTW, I just read that two judges gave the first round to Jones......WTF???!!! What fight were they actually watching? Jones missed with all of his fancy kicks and he got clocked a few times by Machida.....

There is no way Hendo can touch Jones. What the hell were they smokin'?
I hope you are right about Evans, but my guess is he might go 3 rds tops.
Everytime they showed the Nog break, I cringed in my seat. OUCH!!
Did you see how calm Mir was after the fight? Its like he didnt even fight.
Re: The Never Ending MMA thread
Excellent night of fights tonight. First time I've seen the medics in the octagon twice in a night. Watching Nog's arm pop in slow-mo was brutal. Hard to believe Mir got to that point after looking fat and slow like he did.
