Peyton's job was to be the quarterback of the Colts. The responsiblity for the backup success/failure is on the coaches and the backup himself.Tymaster wrote: Good call on the mentoring thing. He obviously didn't do a damned thing to help his back ups along.

But the point needs to be made because people Continue to suggest that Peyton would be a great mentor to someone like andrew luck. The evidence simply isn't there that this is so.

Not because Tebow sucked last week and absolutely blew ass this week, but because your post came off as if it were written by someone who was mentally retarded.
Anyway, good luck with all that, your bold "Tebow wins next week AND will win ONE playoff game!" prediction.
Though if you are going to go full retard why guarantee just a first round playoff win?! Why not go the whole 9 yards and predict super bowl?
And what happened to the second biggest Tebow nutlicker here, cantstop?
So cantstop what's up? Still on board the Tebow Tardwagon?

Usually I like to give a coach at least two, if not three, seasons to show their mettle. But Pat Shurmur is really making me scratch my head. The fact that the Browns are even in these games means he is either a great coach who has a team playing above and beyond their athletic ability, or that is a bad coach and a good coach wouldn't just be content to lose closely, but find a way to win.

I'm a Browns fan, too (why do we do this?) and the playcalling in critical situations was awful. Ending the first half by the goal line, running Hillis as the time ticked away? No timeouts at all and that's the call? Hillis was a monster yesterday and there were some 3rd & shorts and we throw? Huh? Is Shurmur a loon? One may say "But they expect Hillis." Fine, then make Hillis earn it. Chances are, he will. At 4-10 yesterday, why get fancy? Play some power football with the big bruiser. Hopefully they get a good offensive coordinator next year.Tymaster wrote:Usually I like to give a coach at least two, if not three, seasons to show their mettle. Shurmur seems to be in over his head as HC and OC. Why oh why didn't Holmgren demand an OC from the get go, knowing full well it's hard enough to be a rookie head coach. Very, very frustrating. As to "why do we do this?" Because I have since the Kardiac Kids era. Although I have to say other than the 2007 season, the new Browns have not been fun at all. Even the playoff year (2002) wasn't particularly fun. We backpedalled and some have even went so far as to say Dan Reeves pulled Atlanta off of us to let us get in. Since he did steal 3 SB appearance from the city. Although the 2003 playoff game at Pittsburgh was fun. Kelly Holcombs one great day!!bigbuttskinner wrote:I'm a Browns fan, too (why do we do this?) and the playcalling in critical situations was awful. Playoff seedings and WC Round predictions:
AFC
#1 New England
#2 Baltimore
#3 Houston vs #6 Tennessee = Titans
#4 Denver vs #5 Pittsburgh = Steelers in a blowout
Houston is going to have problems playing with a 3rd string QB. I think they will lose to TN this week putting them in the playoffs over Cincy on tie breakers and then have to face them in the WC game. Denver should get into the playoffs where they will be absolutely destroyed by Pitt.
NFC
#1 Green Bay
#2 San Francisco
#3 New Orleans vs #6 Atlanta = Saints
#4 New York vs #5 Detroit = Lions
New York should get in only to have to face a Detroit team whose strengths match up against their weaknesses. The Saints should be rolling into the playoffs and looking sharp going to SF for the divisional round.
I think 3 of the 4 projected WC games will be won by the road teams.
Thoughts?

Re: NFL 2011 Thread
I hate starting over again at QB, but I wouldn't mind bringing a quality free agent (Matt Flynn, Kyle Orton, David Garrard, Alex Smith) and either let Colt sit and learn or battle for the job. Colt's toughness is not in question, but his abilities are. However, I'm not sure Steve Young or Joe Montana could make the Browns receivers look good. So yeah, I think via the draft and free agency the Browns need to AGGRESSIVELY pursue receivers and they need to continue to solidify the line. I'd like to see Hillis resigned, but I think that ship may have already sailed. What do you want the Browns to do in the offseason? Re: NFL 2011 Thread
It just seems like the Browns always have a ton of holes and never have more than a couple of positions where they look strong. Right now they pick 5th. If Griffin is there I think they have to take him because it's not often a team gets a shot at a potential franchise QB. If not they can pick up an OT or DE there and still grab a WR with their second 1st round pick. Another option is trading out one of the picks and trying to go for value and fill holes, although they don't seem to have much success doing that. There's always the feeling that "Hey, they're the Browns and they will fuck this up somehow."Tymaster wrote:I hate starting over again at QB, but I wouldn't mind bringing a quality free agent (Matt Flynn, Kyle Orton, David Garrard, Alex Smith) and either let Colt sit and learn or battle for the job. Re: NFL 2011 Thread
I was hoping the Walrus would fix this. So far, the Walrus has let me down. I'll say this though, Lerner isn't afraid to spend money, he just hasn't spent it on anyone good yet. It's a sad, sad day when Mikey Boy Brown and Marvin Lewis are running the best franchise in Ohio. I never thought I'd say that, but by just clinching their 3rd winning season together (Lewis and Mikey) they are clearly light years ahead of the mistake on the lake. Holmgren and Heckert are about to be entering year together. Shit or get off the pot, Walrus.SkyDog112046 wrote:It just seems like the Browns always have a ton of holes and never have more than a couple of positions where they look strong. Re: NFL 2011 Thread
I agree with most of this. I think Cinci wins the other WC though. Houston's offense has looked horrible the past two weeks, but I think it's got more to do with play calling and Kubiak trying to play it safe than it does the QB. Andre Johnson will be back to help them go downfield more, and Briesel will be back on the O line. I don't know if it's enough, but they'll be competitive in the first round. They're gonna get bounced in the divisional round no matter what IMO.SkyDog112046 wrote:Playoff seedings and WC Round predictions:

Re: NFL 2011 Thread
Don't see Cincy beating Baltimore. Baltimore has too much to lose, and the possibility of facing a division opponent in the playoffs is never good. Also, no fan support in Cincy. All but one game has been blacked out this year, and they are begging Cincinnatians to sell this game out. As is stands, it's going to be blacked out in Cincy, Dayton, and Lexington. Nice PR Mike Brown, nice PR.bane wrote:I agree with most of this. I think Cinci wins the other WC though. It would serve Cincy fans right. How can they not support their team when they are competing for a playoff spot? It's a "win and you're in". How can even fair weather fans not latch onto that?

A loss and their chances are INCREDIBLY slim, Bane. They would need 1) NYJ loss + OAK loss; 2) NYJ loss + DEN loss. Sorry bud, if Cincy loses, they're home. Where they don't have enough fans to sell out a virtual playoff game. Eff Cincy.bane wrote:Cinci doesn't have to beat Baltimore to get in. They still have a really good shot even with a loss.

Weak sports town. Supposedly a baseball town, but the Reds only sell out one or two games a year. When the Royals were perennial playoff contenders they couldn't fill the Cincinnati Gardens. Terrible football city. The fans know nothing of the league.SkyDog112046 wrote:Assuming that Baltimore beats Cincy and TN beats Houston, as long as Denver wins TN gets in. I really don't see Tenn beating Houston. They played really safe the last two games, and it cost them. They need some momentum going into the playoffs. I think you'll see the same Texans team that beat Atlanta and Cinci next week.SkyDog112046 wrote:Assuming that Baltimore beats Cincy and TN beats Houston, as long as Denver wins TN gets in.
