Vick is a mess. That contract the Eagles gave him is going to go down as a terrible investment.
That has sucker bet written all over it. I'm pounding Baltimore like a virgin on prom night. Going to put ten instead of my usual five bucks on it.

Vegas made a KILLING last week mostly due to New Orleans killing so many parlays and teasers.

That game is a lose lose for me. I hate Chicago, but I am tired of all the Green Bay band wagon fans. Guess I have to go with the Packers.

That Packer D looked like absolute shit against San Fran. I didn't watch the Bears game, but all accounts are that offense is kicking ass. It could be a long night for Green Bay if Chicago can run the ball on them and keep Ridgers on the sideline.

Has Cutler ever put two solid games together in a row with Chicago?

Jay Cutler began the smack talk with the Packers.
He's asking for a bad night courtesy of Lambeau

"We've got some dudes that, if you're gonna get up in their face, even our speed guys are gonna get around them, and our big guys are gonna throw and go," Cutler said. "So we invite press coverage. We invite man (coverage). If we get that type of game, our guys outside have to make some plays for us."

I guess there is the Cutlerfuck factor to consider. I think it comes down to Chicago's running game though. If they can run it like Frisco did, they've got a good chance. Green Bay's D is nothing to write home about.

Robert Griffin III is the first rookie quarterback to win an offensive player of the week award after his debut game.

That's because he's FUCKING AWESOME.

Meanwhile Colts fans are melting down because a) Peyton Manning ISN'T finished, and b) Luck isn't RG3.

I have alot of respect for RGIII, I gambled on him as my QB in fantasy football. But Luck should be a great quarterback in the long term. Cam Newton got frustrated in week one, Vick is showing alot of wear and tear.

The new hybrid QB may be the future but with a few exceptions the life expectancy will probably only be 5 years. There is still plenty of room for the old school.

I agree that the running QB is going to be short lived. I don't think that RGIII necessarily falls into that mold though. He's got pocket presence. He's got a cannon for an arm, and he's smarter than your average bear. He can run too, when he has to, but I really think he's better than that. Time will tell, but I think he's going to be the real deal.

Cutler never had the receivers he has here now before though. Alshon Jefferey is going to be a beast and Brandon Marshall kinda already is. I just thing the Pack D line and Matthews will bother him since it's a nationally televised game. They normally shit the bed when the world is watching.

I gotta say, this comparison gets trotted out all the time. Except people never bring up the WHITE GUYS with wheels, like Steve Young and John Elway, who went on to successful, hall of fame careers.

Not all QBs are the same. RG3 is black, and he's got wheels. That could really be the extent of the comparison with Vick, who seems to have inconsistency issues with his accuracy, doesn't seem too bright, and runs far too much.

Comparing him with RG3 isn't as much of a stretch as comparing him with JaMarcus Russell, as some complete mongs around here have done, just because they are both black, but it's not necessarily legit either.

From what I've seen from RG3, he's a pocket passer with a deadly accurate cannon who can ALSO run when he needs to. On Sunday, in the loudest venue in the NFL, where he easily could have been rattled and turned on the jets, he threw at every opportunity. The best throw he made in the entire game - a 20 yard sideline completion across the field and across his body - was made when he had 10 yards of open field ahead of him and could have easily run for the first.

As far as I could tell, his only significant runs came on PLANNED QB draw/option plays. Because he's a really fast guy, he'll have that option, and he did use it to get out of trouble several times before throwing it.

But I don't think he's Vick, not by a long shot. As far as Cam Newton goes, I have not watched him play much, as Panthers games don't end up on TV too often (thank god). But as much as he's running, this guy throws for 300 yards every game, no?

The "hybrid" thing is used as blanket to cover far too many players. I'll take a "hybrid" like Young, Elway, or RG3 any day. I wouldn't be interested in having Vick on my team - character issues aside - because he isn't good enough a thrower or confident enough in the pocket to pull it off. He's going to age very, very quickly playing the way he does. The line in Philly ain't doing him any favors, but he's ALWAYS played this way.

This is probably the most talented group of players that have ever played in the Bears/Packers rivalry.

That's because there really aren't many. Those two guys you mentioned and Tarkenton. That's about it. I guess you could throw in Tebow maybe, although I still don't really think he's a quarterback. Conversely, you'd probably have a tough time naming many black NFL QBs that didn't have good wheels.

Warren Moon and Doug Williams are two of the slowest guys to ever put their hands under center cheeks at the pro level.

Steve YouNG played many years as a backup, and Elway was no running qb. he could run, but he wasn't a guy who would run first. And Tarkenton'S hits came in the pocket. He was a scrambler, not really a runner. At least not a runner in the same sense as today's qbs.

Well, I guess I'm hoping RG3 turns out to be more like those guys, except of course, faster and more athletic.

I do agree with the hypothesis that the "Vick Model" isn't one to follow if you expect a healthy QB with a long and successful career.

I dont think you'll be disappointed. He's already demonstrated that he's not a run first guy. He's not going to be a statue, but I think you'll see him using his wheels to stretch plays looking for a receiver to come open more than you'll see him tuck the ball and run.

Going to be a kickass game of football tonight.

Don't have a favorite in the game guess I'd sort of like to see the Bears do good but I'll be watching just because I love football.

On a counter-point not a big fan of the Thursday night game but I can deal with it a lot more than Goodell trying to shove the NFL down in England's throat.

Not gonna happen and that's all right with me if they don't love it hell I wouldn't turn the TV on and want to watch a Soccor game.

It was actually a shitty game tonight, unless you like brutally one-sided contests.

The Bears offense really never recovered from that personal fall call in the first half. That was it.

Terrible showing by that offense. I know it wasn't his fault but Cutler was not very good. He lost his nerve in the first half and that was it.

After watching the game I gotta ask how good are the 49ers?
