The refs during replays are looking for a "distinct kicking motion" and the player never took his skates off of the ice.
If the puck had hit him a few inches higher and gone in off of his shin pad, nobody would say a word.

Bingo. There needs to be a "sweeping motion" for it to be distinct. There's no doubt Zibanejad readjusted his leg while stopping and certainly redirected it in. It does help that Zibanejad did make contact with the puck with his stick as well. Is it splitting hairs?-Absolutely, but the rule is more about loose pucks being punted in and less about redirection of shot pucks, rightly or wrongly.
Perhaps to eliminate all gray areas they should go back to the no using your skate to score period.

Or how about just allowing goals whichever way, whether it's kicked or directed....who cares? It would increase goal-scoring and creativity.

Not to mention, it would stop all of these fucking goal reviews and shut everyone up.

The NHL can tongue my sack until they get a decent and stable TV contract. Watched the 1st Ranger Cap series but couldn't find the next two. Every year they bounce channels or don't show them, I will say there seems to be more games this year but it's not enough until I can watch my team in the playoffs. I'm trying to be a fan but I'm not gonna by some hundred dollar package either.

I'm still pissed from last year "or two" when they didn't show any Rangers games in the first round.

God damn joke
I'm with you...

See Habs vs Sens from last night.

Habs are plenty guilty, but Sens first goal WAS kicked in, and prior to that the NHL has admitted they dropped the puck on the wrong side of Carey Price, meaning the Habs had the wrong guys taking the face off.

On the tying goal, there was a bogus icing call. Play was good, not icing, as the Sens player slowed his progress to the puck and didn't take a direct line.

OT = ratings you know...

If that goal wasn't kicked in, i don't know what is a kick.
Exactly. If that's not a kick, then might as well say your allowed to score in any which way. I suppose I have more of an issue with the rule than anything else.

Its the second/tying goal that irked me moor, as the Habs got called for icing with 20 seconds left, and the play should have continued, and in fact did continue on similar plays, for both teams, earlier in the game.

Gonchar, I think it was, took his sweet time getting to the puck, in the hopes it would make icing. He was practically even with the puck and could have played it before the red line.

In any case, Habs are toast. They were beat up down the stretch, and now the injury bug has hit them HARD. Price will likely not play, Emelin, Eller Gionta, Prust, and White are all out. Pacioretty and Markov are playing hurt. I can't even figure out who might dress and what the lines could be!

What the fuck are you talking about?? The only teams NBC shows are the Rangers, Flyers, Red Wings and Penguins.

Besides that, are you whining about them showing games on the alternate NBC networks? How the fuck else are they supposed to broadcast 4 series a day? Quit being cheap and upgrade your cable package.

Dear Minnesota, get out of my playoffs. Sutter is great. Clutterbuck is a good hitter with some skill and you have a broad named Darcy playing goalie. Now get lost. That is a boring ass brand of hockey you play. Take the rest of the year off.

I'm proud of my boys. Get a better goalie, a guy for JT's wing and some better refs and we are off.

Go Senators!!

If you recall, I agreed with this in regards to their playoff hopes. Also, look at my predictions a couple of pages ago.

looks like the Kings have a big shot to win it all again....the only question mark was that Quick was having an off regular season (for him) but he looked like his old self against St Louis

I called the Wings too. Even minus Lidstrom, they have a good veteran core, and a hell of a coach. Ducks started amazing, but were average/normal after that.

I think the Hawks will eat up the Wings' D and spit them out though...

If we wind up with a final four of Chicago, LA, Pittsburgh, and whomever comes out of those game 7's, it will be good hockey.

I'm a Kings fan, and I don't think they get past San Jose. SJ looked really good vs VAN, have had the Kings number for years....and they don't lose at home.

Yep, I don't know one Isles fan who said he was not going to cheer for the because they were moving to Brooklyn.

I think that series will go game to game 7. And man its a tough one to call. I'll make my prediction when the first round has finished.

Chicago in 6.

I don't know why it bothers me that every 'expert' is picking the Blackhawks to win the whole thing. But it does.

Because every expert goes with the easy pick. It's convenient.

Show me one expert who picked the KINGS to win the cup last year....you won't find one.

Don't listen to the experts. Only listen to me. They are totally going to win the cup. I have no doubt in my mind.
