Just read his OBP is only .286
Some things never change with this guy. He's walked about
13 times this season. :o

That's why I'm hoping the Cubs can dump him, even if it means eating a good chunk of his salary. If they can move him, then hopefully they can bring up Baez sooner...

Braun is getting off so easy.
He will only lose 3% of his upcoming salary. Big deal. What is 3% and
65 games going to do? NOTHING.
Yeah, but his reputation is ruined forever.....that's the true punishment.

Fuck that. Who cares about his rep. What might deter these players
from "cheating" is hitting them in the bank account significantly.

You're right, on June 21 they were 12 games under 500. That's even more impressive.

I hear what you're saying, and I agree that these guys' bank accounts need to take huge hits.

But when it comes down to it, a man's legacy is measured by his character (or lack there of), more than the amount of money he makes. Braun's character is forever tarnished.

LOL.....yeah they do. But the future looks bright, my friend. From the sounds of it, Theo truly is putting the pieces in place in the farm system...Baez, Soler, these kids from the Garza trade.....and how about this Junior Lake kid? Where did he come from? Geez, this kid is tearing it up. Obviously he's gonna come back down to earth at some point. But when he does, I hope the Cubs have themselves a solid .300 hitter for years to come.

They can't send Lake back down when DeJesus comes back. Move Soriano and keep the kid.

Damn
Wish I knew. I could have set the DVR.

Tell you what, Goose made a huge mistake with that HR pitch.
What else would Brett going to do with that pitch? Of course
the ball was going out of the park.

I have always wondered what Goose's save percentage was as a Yankee
or what the average IP per save was for him as well

Soriano says that he'll waive his 10-5 rights and accept a trade to the Yankees if both teams agree on a trade.

Imagine what his endorsement income was in 2011.

Now imagine what his endorsement income will be in 2014.

Tim Hudson likely out for season with ankle fracture which occured while taking a shutout to the 8th against NYM. That sucks bad for Atlanta the Braves strength has been their dominate pitching, I had them taking the East because of it.

Theo told Sveum to scratch Soriano from tonight's starting line-up because the trade with the Yankees is close.

No word yet on who they'll get back, but likely a low-level pitching prospect...

Sounds like the Cubs and Yankees will split the $25 million left on his terrible deal. Still not good. He's got some pop left and they are desperate for that but I can't get excited about yet another aging player that is pretty close to done.

Remember Soriano when he was with the MFY originally? I think the East is Boston's, maybe Tampa's. Still Soriano's contribution could be huge.

*edit* Sorry guys, posting from my phone.

Agreed, especially since he's more of a second half player.

Nate Schierholtz is rumored to be the next Cub to be traded, possibly to Pittsburgh...

I have to admit he played better for the Cubs longer into that contract than I thought he would. They don't make the playoffs in 07/08 without his bat .
