Calvaire ("The Ordeal" - 2004) - 7/10.
Fucked-up French movie with one of the creepiest, realistic premises ever, great acting and some decent gore. Most importantly, it has a cameo by Brigitte Lahaie, who's somehow still kind of pretty even though she's probably 95 years old.

Excellent movie.
I picked it up for $2 when a local video store went under.

I'm not really sure what to rate this movie. I still haven't decided if it was insanely clever or utterly stupid.

Sonic Boom - 1/10. A nonsensical short film featuring pretty much the whole damn Nelson family.

Three Colors: Blue. 9/10
A French film made by a Polish director, Krzysztof Kieślowski.
My favorite of the Three Colors trilogy. If you haven't seen it, I highly recommend it.

I'm about to watch Lars Von Trier's - Antichrist, again.
At least THIS time I know what I'm in for...
As for the film, I give it a 10/10. No film in recent memory has affected me so.

Black Rock 4/10
I friggin' blame Richard Roper for me renting this mess.
If Real Steel was basically Over The Top with Robots, then Black Rock is basically Surviving the Game and/or Southern Comfort with chicks.... only not as good.

Cet obscur objet du désir ("That Obscure Object of Desire" 1977) - 7/10.
Almost too normal for a Buñuel film, but the two actresses in the one main role are a nice touch. It also helps that they're both hot and get their ass kicked.

I haven't seen this yet, but I find Buñuel's career to be fascinating. I loved his early films.SebastianLeeDanzig wrote:Cet obscur objet du désir ("That Obscure Object of Desire" 1977) - 7/10.

As the credits started to roll, the missus looked at me and said, "What was the name of this horseshit again?"
That about sums it up.

Re: Rate the last movie you saw
I don't typically spend my Saturday's watching movies, but what the hell...
I just finished the Brothers Quay film, 'The Piano Tuner of Earthquakes', for the third time.

Each viewing has found me liking it more and more. I wish they'd make more feature length films.

A Viking Saga: The Darkest Day: 4/10
I'm not sure why this movie failed. The acting was fine. The story was OK. But it just never took off. It was so... quiet, I guess. Viking movies shouldn't be quiet.

"Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3-D" - 3/10
total piece of shit. started off promising, picking up where the original left off. this installment turned Leatherface into a pussy.
"The Hangover 3" - 5/10
I wondered why this one didn't do as well at the box office. then I actually watched it.
