Raiders and the Rams in LA? Is the Bills going to move north eh?

With Los Angeles looming, NFL envisions $2B sale price for Raiders Would Mark Davis take $2B to sell the Raiders to help the NFL fill its LA market?

With the sale of the Buffalo Bills to the Pegula family set to be voted through in a matter of weeks for $1.4 billion, there is considerable attention being paid by NFL officials to the plight of the Raiders.

They still face a highly uncertain stadium situation with their lease in Oakland expiring after the season and the team no longer interested in going year-to-year there. League sources said the NFL now believes the Raiders could generate $2 billion or more if sold, and, selling the team remains the most likely path for a move to Los Angeles.

The NFL will be very careful about who gets that Los Angeles market, and Raiders owner Mark Davis has limitations in real estate, marketing and overall business expertise. Convincing Davis to take a few billion to sell the team to one of the league's short-list of owners-in-waiting -- a list headlined by Larry Ellison, sources said -- would be one way to fast-track getting to that market.

There are numerous people around the league more or less waiting for the Rams, whose lease in St. Louis also is up after the season, to announce an intent to move by the February deadline to do so. And Commissioner Roger Goodell has made it clear the league views Los Angeles as a two-team town. Of course, getting their first tends to have significant positive ramifications for sponsorships, naming rights, etc. The sense of urgency about the LA market is at a more fevered pitch than it has been for quite some time, and the behind-the-scenes machinations won't subside soon.

Even without a stadium solution, selling the Raiders to someone equipped to get them to LA would ensure the price tag gets where the league wants it to be, and some wonder if at some point the headaches and tribulations of trying to get a new stadium eventually would lead to Davis going that route.

Sounds possible both the Rams and Raiders could be in LA...FUCK THAT.

I'd love to see the Ram's take over LA but not this shit with the Raiders again. I can understand why, Oakland is a shit stadium with a year to year lease also splits the stadium with the A's which has a dirt in field till November. On top of being a low market team.

If anyone should be in LA it should be the Rams, tho the Raiders won a Super Bowl in LA. If the Raiders go to LA, they better be the first to move.

I'm not an Eagles fan, but Chip Kelly is the master of using the clock.
I'm surprised more teams haven't adopted having the person with the ball put it in the officials hands after being tackled.

Instead of a receiver leaving the ball on the ground and the clock still running, Chip has made sure that they give the ball to the ref, which gives them more time.

This is probably a stupid question, but I thought overtime rules in NFL were always sudden death. As in first team that scores wins the game whether it be by field goal or touchdown. I thought the only difference in the new rule is that a field goal isn't good enough to end it.

Dallas Cowboys cornerback Morris Claiborne has had a rough 72 hours. He was repeatedly roasted by the St. Louis Rams' receiver group on Sunday and was called out by owner Jerry Jones on Tuesday morning.

By Tuesday afternoon, Claiborne learned he was benched. And that was too much to handle. NFL Media Insider Ian Rapoport reports that Claiborne packed his things and walked out of the facility after learning Orlando Scandrick was going to replace him as the starter, according to a Cowboys source. Claiborne skipped the Cowboys' walk-through practice.

Dallas has put a lot of time and resources into the 2012 No. 6 overall pick. He's been a subpar starter since joining the team.

"Is he what we had hoped for at this point when we drafted him with the sixth overall pick, giving up the [second-round] pick to go up to the sixth pick to get him? No," Jones said on KRLD-FM Tuesday. "But he's going to be a good player."

We suspect Claiborne's emotional response to his benching won't have a huge lasting effect. He doesn't have much trade value, and the Cowboys infamously hate to admit personnel mistakes until it's too late. Claiborne doesn't have many options other than to show up for work Wednesday.

I think the Baker hit was somewhat chickenshit only because he was laying into a quarterback who clearly wasn't going to do anything meaningful on the play. That said, what makes it illegal? First, not sure it was a "late" hit, because it looks to me like it happens just as the runner is being tackled, so the play is live. Second, it's not a block in the back or to the head, or using the helmet? So what is the outrage about?

I mean, people don't like a puny quarterback who isn't blocking or doing anything effective (but is nonetheless right in the middle of the play and blocking round him) getting mauled by 300 lb+ offensive lineman, and I kinda get that, but if Foles doesn't want to subject himself to blocks, then he should stay the fuck out of the play, no?

The NFL announced on Tuesday that they will not suspend Washington Redskins defensive lineman Chris Baker after determining that Baker’s hit on Eagles quarterback Nick Foles during Sunday’s game in Philadelphia was legal.

“Baker didn’t do anything wrong with that hit,” said Troy Vincent, the NFL’s executive vice president of football operations. “When you look at the rule, he didn’t do anything illegal. People can say it’s a cheap shot and you can talk about whether it might fall under unsportsmanlike conduct. But when you know the rule and you look at the play, he didn’t hit him in the head. He didn’t hit him in the neck. We looked at it. I looked at it very closely. He’s not going to be fined for that.”

Under NFL rules, a quarterback is considered a defenseless player after throwing an interception and cannot be hit by an opposing player in the head or neck area. Baker’s hit was in neither spot.
