If you knew what he had to go through to beat the cancer — he wouldn’t do traditional treatment.
So he only did alternative or experimental treatment?
That is insane! Traditional treatment is traditional because, well, it works! Jesús f'n Christ!

Hmmm . . .
Alex called Brian May to process how to continue without Ed ?
Dave should call Yoko Ono. The only reason anyone gave a fuck about her was John Lennon and now that Ed is gone - Dave is in the exact same shoes . . .
and their vocals are pretty similar theses days to
FUCK YOU ROTH

It was never anything more than talk from people looking to make money or maybe give Ed some hope that there were things coming down the road for him.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 2:30 pm What I don't get, was that if Alex hated Sammy that much, how in the FUCK was everyone going to coexist on that "Kitchen Sink" tour that was planned before Ed's cancer came back? The book came out in 2012 and Sammy did the Cabo Wabo deal in 2007, so those bridges were burned LONG before 2019.
It's like that talk that about Mikey coming back into the band. It was exactly that - talk.
They couldn't even manage getting Mike back in the band so they could go on tour as the original VH.... but they were going to bring Mike back AND get Sammy and Dave to share the lead singer spot and go on tour together?
About a million times less likely than Skid Row reuniting with Bach and bringing Kix w Donnie and Tesla with Gus out as the opening bands.

There's a reason why Al says there are very few complete songs in the vault.mfgtr wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 10:27 pm Hmmm . . .

Van Halen only had two songwriters. Roth and Hagar.
Without Roth, Ed would be as famous as Greg Leon.

To be fair, Greg Leon is still alive and great with amplifiers...Ed is not.

Chip Z'Hoy wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 1:35 pmThis is disappointing. I wasn't expecting him to fully unload on Sammy the way Sammy did on them in his book, but I don't know how you write a memoir about your brother and skip over five of the platinum albums you made together. But this is a much bigger middle finger to Sam--barely acknowledging him. He’s at least as cutting in his book: “We had a lot of other singers over the years,” he writes, in his only acknowledgment of the Van Hagar era.
Also, is he counting everyone they jammed with among those singers? Otherwise, they had two other singers over the years.
Are we even going to get the "very disrespectful to Beck" VMA's story?
Al is as delusional and bitter as his younger brother.
Roth did them a favor when he left. As much as I hate to admit it, Roth isn’t
Robert Plant. Dave’s solo career is the twilight zone and his personality is even
more bizarre. Dave continue to repeat a lot of the same patterns throughout his career
that drove Eddie nuts in 1982.
I’ll take Plant and The Cov over Roth anytime.
F*ck, I’ll take Sebastian Bach over Roth. Roth was great from 1978
until 1981. After that, he turned into a clown.
I know fans ate it up but that ‘07-‘12 was just sad.
Dave is no Jagger or even Ozzy, and Ozzy has done some real stupid shit

Re: Alex Van Halen Rolling Stone interview
I'd agree with that, except for the fact that Roth was starting to do press (Joe Rogan), and it sounded like they had hold dates at certain stadiums (Yankee Stadium)? I can't imagine it would have gotten that far if it wasn't possible.FreddyFender wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 10:28 pmIt was never anything more than talk from people looking to make money or maybe give Ed some hope that there were things coming down the road for him.Anthrax442 wrote: ↑Tue Oct 15, 2024 2:30 pm What I don't get, was that if Alex hated Sammy that much, how in the FUCK was everyone going to coexist on that "Kitchen Sink" tour that was planned before Ed's cancer came back? But maybe they were just all going through the motions to give Ed something to live for.

I was thinking the same thing. Al has always been typical LA. Al, Ed and Dave were all miserable human beings.
Fans always give Mike shit but Al is the biggest coattail rider in the band. Total codependency on his little brother.

All I know is when he said “you’ve gotta drink your Drain-O” all I could think was METH because of how he was looking and acting during that earlier era. If he wasn’t doing traditional treatment he obviously didn’t mean chemo.
But later on when he was going to apparently Germany and Switzerland it sounds like it was more he was getting the most cutting edge treatments available.

Can't even mention Sammy by name but that bitter cunt would be about one notch up from Bobby Blotzer in the "where are they now" file right now if Sam never joined the band when he did.

Can't believe they were actually jamming with Chris Cornell too (and he was also playing bass) - Seems like the timeline was after the last Soundgarden album and before the last Soundgarden tour (there's about a 4 year window in there) - Alex mentions how fragile a state Chris was in at that point. That would have been incredible to hear new music from that.

And Sam would be Ted Nugent with aliens instead of politics if he didn't get the job in VH.

Not so sure about that... For the last 20 years the Van Halen modus operandi regarding Hagar has been to not even mention his name and pretend he does not exist, no matter how loudly he cries for attention...Indy_Rob wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 9:44 amIf it were not true, Al and/or Wolf would have called him out by now.El Vampiro Blanco wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 9:11 amYou believe that shit?

Re: Alex Van Halen Rolling Stone interview
100 % not true that they mended fences. Very typical Hagar thing. He even had the nerve to say he wrote a song with Eddie after his death with Ed delivering his part in Sam's dream or somethingEl Vampiro Blanco wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 10:22 amNot so sure about that... Re: Alex Van Halen Rolling Stone interview
Not only the Cabo Wabo business deal, where Sammy pocketed around $91 million without the Van Halen bros, but now with making his own tribute tour with Mike and Joe (Al's original idea), I'm not sure Al will ever speak his name again.
Re: Alex Van Halen Rolling Stone interview
First of all, Alex sounds weird as fuck in that interview. Both the VH brothers seem extremely odd to me.
second, Sammy is obnoxious for many reasons, but I don't think Alex bemoans (or should be able to) the Cabo deal since my understanding is both brothers wanted OUT. Sammy couldn't have forced them to sell their shares. They did so willingly.

Re: Alex Van Halen Rolling Stone interview
That implies Alex ad Eddie were rational persons. They were not. I can totally believe them wanting out of the Cabo Wabo deal and then being pissed off because that motherfucker is making millions!veritas wrote: ↑Wed Oct 16, 2024 11:43 am First of all, Alex sounds weird as fuck in that interview. I mean, when Noel Monk told the band Fair Warning would not sell more than gold without payola, Alex calmly responded 'That is not possible, Van Halen is a platinum band'.
