Anyone see opening night of priest/alice

Post by thunderdan »

Priest played 14 songs and closed; Alice always makes the most of his time playing 20 songs. I guess COC just had 30 minutes. Any Mississippi sludge reviews?

Just came here to write that it's 2026 next year. Turbo 40 tour, baby!

A retro tour with all of Turbo performed will be awesome. Can't wait to hear Reckless live. Never played, the video on youtube is fake.
A pretty good fake with crowd noise and vocal echo piped in to sound like an arena show but there is no location and they never played it.

Was thinking of checking this out in a few weeks. I love Painkiller, but I'd rather hear other stuff live.

Did I miss something, or has this been announced as a "Painkiller" tour??

I watched the livestream from Hellfest earlier this summer and while I thought they sounded pretty good, the setlist was pretty shit.

Very interesting setlist from Alice. I wonder if since Priest is highlighting Painkiller, Alice decided to highlight the Trash/Hey Stoopid era, as a throwback to the Operation Rock N Roll tour?

Im impressed Priest would deviate from the classics that much. I wonder if this is the first time Electric Eye and Victim HAVNT been in the set.

Alice's setlist is a huge disappointment. By far my least favorite era. I've never had any problems with his setlists the five times I've seen him, but I probably would have passed on this one had I known what the setlist was beforehand. On the other hand, I'm a big fan of COC and Priest has never disappointed me, plus tickets were an anniversary gift from my girlfriend and the venue is great. $4 waters, free parking, comfortable seats. I saw Alice with Zombie, Ministry and Filter at the same venue a year ago and had a blast. Still not looking forward to Alice's shitty setlist though.

When it's an outdoor venue in Austin, $4 waters are indeed awesome. It's the Trash/Hey Stoopid era stuff I don't like and never did.

I just typed out a few more sentences about what he could be playing instead and realized I sound like one of those bitter, entitled fans that are always looking for something to complain about or think they could put a better setlist together. Fuck. I never want to be that guy. I still don't like some of the choices he made here, but he's Alice Cooper and he can play whatever the fuck he wants. I was there last time, I'll be there this time, and I'll be back next time.

Having seen both Priest and Alice in the past, I skipped this show. However, some of my friends went and said the show sold so poorly that the upper deck of the coliseum was closed off and those who had seats in that section were all upgraded to the lower bowls and floor. That being said, I don't regret skipping the show as I would've been disappointed in that "Painkiller" heavy setlist.

Like the new Alice setlist. Priest doing all Painkiller stuff on a co-headline seems kinda antithetical. Why not a "best-of" setlist for the kind of audience that is going to show up for a tour like this? I don't mind it, but I see a lot yawns for some of that material over things like "Hellion/Electric Eye." Just my two cents. I have lawn tix that were 4 for $100.

I don't even like Painkiller that much but this setlist plays to the band's strengths. Scott never really nailed the Binks/Holland material, it feels too stiff and slow when he played it but this he plays right and with a lot of energy. And the Painkiller era guitar playing may also be more up Andy/Richie's alley.

That's actually a great setlist. I have seen him live three times in the past so i don't mind seeing him play rare songs.

Surprised Judas Priest hasn't dusted off any of the Ripper Owens songs for this tour. Something like Burn in Hell or One On One would go well with the Painkiller songs.

I’ve seen Alice 22 times over the years and always look forward to the new set list . I also LOVE to see the tweaks to the set design.

WTF is that blank canvas ?? No wonder the crown isn’t “into it” , that is minus everything that make a Cooper show great. Those giant video screens are a pile of shit .

You're right, but for the wrong reasons. There's some decent material on those albums, but they won't play them because:

1) Halford's Ego as the Metal God won't allow it
2) The two guys that would push playing those songs (KK/Tipton) aren't active in the band anymore

If they were going to play any of that material, it would have been on the Epitaph tour, which they advertised by saying they were going to play a song from each album in their catalog. To their credit, they did play a song from every HALFORD album, including Nostradamus, but Jugulator and Demolition were absent.

I think Steve Harris had more of a bug up his butt that Maiden were still doing essential stuff while Bruce was gone. KK and Glenn were just happy for that era to have been over.

Not only would the crowd look on confused if they play any ripper stuff, but who would push for it, Ian?

KKs priest played only 1 Ripper Priest song last tour, and Ripper's the damn frontman.

What??? How can you disagree that they should play their 321th most popular song on spotify, and the other one that's not even linked live???
https://kworb.net/spotify/artist/2tRsMl ... songs.html

Nobody liked the Ripper shit, nobody listens to it in 2025. It's a more stupid suggestion than to play Ram It Down and Rocka Rolla in full.

Pretty sure they were playing more when they only had the first record out, but point taken. And if a Priest fan is hardcore enough to know Solar Angels, they'll probably known something from those two albums as well.
