I'm not a stats guy, but I was surprised how many eligible voters didn't vote. Lazy. Sick of politics. Vote doesn't matter. Whatever the reason. Still, something like 50%??

Glad to hear substantiation of this, because it obviously happened - there was ticket-splitting in 6 battleground states, with the Prez vote total lower than the downticket race in all of them. The reverse is what usually happens (e.g. 2016). People didn't want Kamala and the numbers bear it out.

Outside of PA, all the swing states that voted for Trump and also voted for their incumbent Democrat senator.
Both sides are all over the internet saying "this means the other side is cheating!"
No, it suggests people are happy with how the direction their state is going, but unhappy how the country is going.

The idea of stealing elections is poisonous. And the idea of stealing elections with the level of precision to get scrambled outcomes like this is a joke. If you can cheat, cheat yourself into total control from top to bottom. Absolutely absurd. These elections are locally run and very decentralized. It would require a massive conspiracy of thousands of very smart people. I’ve yet to meet one municipal employee that smart. Much less thousands distributed across 16,000 swing communities in 7 to 10 states. Absurd.

Agree. The outlier here is the high number of Rep votes with a lower 2024 turnout. Their numbers dropped from 2020 too, but not as much as the Dems. This goes against conventional wisdom. Was there an "anyone but Harris" group that went out to vote this year like there was an "anyone but Trump" group in 2020? That could explain it. But it's nothing that was recognized before the election, unlike 2020.Bono Nettencourt wrote: ↑Fri Nov 08, 2024 6:36 amYep. The math maths. I know it's a snarky comment to make anyone that questioned that at the time look stupid - but it still is suspicious how those 81.2 million votes for Biden jump off the page from all other elections.
Biden barely campaigned that election, made a rare video message from Deleware. He was always a long time gaffe prone Washington insider and not getting any more appealing with age and time. Hard to believe he inspired the biggest show of support ever seen for a candidate.
Also, being an experienced but not very controversial Washington insider may have been an advantage for Biden in 2020 after four chaotic years when voters wanted stability and predictability. But in 2024, the voters wanted change. This article is spot on: "She’s running as a change candidate even though she has not revealed any major breaks that she would make with her boss".

I know of one election where a Dem Sheriff got 23k more votes than Harris. There are sure to be more. Also, COVID in 2020 spiked turnout when people had free time.

I think it's time for Democrats to "read the room" and realize that the United States is a racist and sexist nation. They also need to realize that people don't give a fuck a about immigrants and don't want an open border of any sort. We're a selfish, narcissistic country. A vast majority of people don't even give a shit about their fellow Americans much less immigrants.
In retrospect, it appears to me that Barack Obama getting elected clearly was a trigger for many causing them to get involved in politics for the first time and helped to shift the demographic of the GOP moving towards blue collar workers in red states. These people are racist as fuck, and if you don't believe that, you haven't lived or you're in denial.
And clearly, nothing motivates people to either not vote at all or vote GOP like the Democrats running a woman and, especially, a black asian woman.

There was nothing "questionable" about that turnout. Lest you forget, we were in the middle of a pandemic. And people were DESPERATE for change. Everyone did their civic duty to get us the F out of despair and get adults in charge of the pandemic response.Blotzer's Treehouse wrote: ↑Thu Nov 07, 2024 7:30 pm

Hard to believe he inspired the biggest show of support ever seen for a candidate. Plus he blew away Obama's performance only in the "swing states" and underperformed Obama almost everywhere else and there was little down ballot extenstion of that support to the house and senate race for his party. Emergency COVID rules changed all of the voter verification procedures suddenly and chaotically with mail in ballots. Courts were overwhelmed with lawsuits with most never being heard.
2000 was questionable with the Bush/Gore Florida thing and supreme court deciding that. Don't think 2004 (Bush), 2008 & 2012 (Obama) or 2016 was fishy, but that 2020 one looks way more suspicious after the one here in 2024.
Look at the remarkable rise in R turnout, as well. That said, most of the electorate is not smart enough to understand that the economic decisions made then ripple for 3-4 years. That we've been in high growth mode, with high interest rates to ward off recession is beyond their comprehension. The fact the current administration was able to navigate the past 4 years has been remarkable, and we should be thankful it wasn't much worse.

People talking about turnout numbers when 30 million votes hadn't been counted yet hurt my head. California is still only half counted FFS.
There's currently 145 mil votes counted, with about 10 mil left to count in Ca/Az/NY/Utah/NJ/NV/WA plus whatever residuals from other states.
That's a total count of at least 155 million and maybe 1-2 mil more.
2020 had a vote total of 157 mil.
People losing their shit over turnout numbers at this point is fucking stupid beyond belief.

He’s one of the luckiest Hollywood fuckers alive. Not a stellar standup career, was on a couple mediocre tv shows, starts his podcast when the iron was hot, then scores the Spotify deal and moves to the Land of Cruz. He desperately wants to be Dana White, but probably only gets to give him tug jobs.

Re: Donald Trump Won.
As long as the "left" rely almost entirely upon identity politics to fill the ballot box, we'll never see an election that isn't a clown show. Go look at the demographic percentages of who votes for who. If a woman votes for a woman because she is a woman=go girl! (only reason Biden even picked one in the first place), Hispanics lean Hispanic, blacks almost entirely support a non-white candidates when given the choice, LGBT vote LGBT-"friendly" and on and on and on. Everyone votes "their own" and often (always?) MORE than white guys. It's so obvious that you have to have zero comprehensive ability to not see this hypocrisy. probably the same people who screamed and cried about Apartheid in SA, but relish minority groups telling the majority how to live.
I've actually seen dem talking heads calling the relatively small number of black and Hispanic men who voted for Trump compared to the last election "misogynists" just for not automatically voting for Harris. Black racism/preference guiding their vote is fine/expected, but not their awful "misogyny". That's over the line. They assume it's a GIVEN that all black people vote black (or non-white) and ALL women should vote for a woman (and not like their back-handing husbands tell them to). Blacks who don't like Harris/democratic candidates are uncle-Toms and women who vote for Trump are all either idiots or oppressed domestic abuse victims who can't think for themselves. Like that stupid commercial that told women that voting against their husbands was "...the one place in America where women still have the right to choose". Really? That's the only place where women can make decisions? How stupid DO they think women are? I seriously thought it was an AI Onion News clip. Is it actually real? I keep checking and I think it might be. It turns out even "liberals" and "moderates" dislike being called idiots and bigots. Remember Sarah Palin? Did the left celebrate a female candidate when she ran or did they villainize her as a retarded dipshit? I mean, even sexist, misogynistic Republicans supported her so she had to be torn to pieces, right? I thought no actual white guy would ever vote for a woman? Ben Carson, et al, same thing. Hispanic-Republicans are shat upon as well as some sort of traitors to "their people". How is the hypocrisy of criticizing NOT not being biased towards your own demographic while criticizing certain other groups for that very thing NOT crystal clear to everyone? I'd imagine it is, but just not convenient when it's all you've got in the tank.
If they keep it up (and of course they will) they will eventually have a very, VERY small group of voters supporting only the silly fringe bullshit. 5 minutes after the election is lost (every single time) "we need to re-evaluate our approach". 6 months later...more clownish than ever. It's too hard for so many people to understand that this country is not made up of either "neo-Nazi/Fascist Trumptards" or screaming blue-haired cat-people. But we love our McDonalds/Burger King, Coke/Pepsi, my "team"/your "team" too much to not act like a bunch of idiots, I guess. People wonder why TPTB think the way they do about the useless eaters. Can you blame them?
BTW, anyone who responds negatively to this will be "blocked" by me. I guess you could say I'm way more of a "liberal" when it comes to that sort of thing, so you'll understand.

Ohio - Hasn't been a swing state in a long time. Dem senator since 2007, I'd call that in play
Georgia - Didn't have an election for Senator. That was my point
Michigan - Called for Sorkin by AP. But not an incumbent nor has won
Nevada - Called for Rosen by the AP. Hasn't won
Arizona - Lake has maybe a 1% chance of turning it around. Highly unlikely. Not an incumbent nor has won

Sarah "Pain". What a serendipitous typo.
The left didn't have to villainize her - she did a fine enough job herself of proving to the world that she was a retarded dipshit. Republicans weren't uniformly in love with her either, btw. Read/watch Game Change. Read something next time before you launch into one of your interminable vomitous screeds.
